Over 200 pilgrims from throughout the diocese made the journey to Lourdes this year for the Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage (29th July – 4th August ). Among the pilgrims was Mr Jack Laing, who had first visited Lourdes 50 years ago in 1947. Jack is an uncle of Mgr Creegan, Parish Priest of St Joseph’s parish and one of the Vicars General of the Diocese.
This being the first year of preparation for the great millennium jubilee the theme for the pilgrimage was: “Reborn in Christ with Mary, Bernadette and the Church”. This was reflected in the various liturgies of the pilgrimage.

The sick pilgrims were housed in the new Accueil Notre Dame.
